Basic information FSC ®
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) is an independent international non-governmental organization that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable forest management. FSC creates a space for people with diverse interests and focuses to discuss and address forest management issues worldwide. The FSC organization was established in 1993 and operates globally through a network of national initiatives and regional offices. FSC has created an international certification system for forests that allows for the identification and verification of responsible forest management that balances environmental, social, and economic requirements. These requirements are defined in the FSC forest management standard based on 10 principles and 56 criteria.

Forest certification is a modern market tool that promotes responsible forest management. It encourages forest managers to operate sustainably in all aspects. Upon meeting the criteria and receiving the FSC certificate, the forest owner has the right to use the FSC label, which distinguishes their wood from wood of unclear origin in the market. FSC certification is also a prestigious recognition for forest owners of their efforts towards nature-friendly forest management.
The Chain of Custody (CoC) system connects responsible forest management and production with consumers. The consumer chain represents the "path" of raw wood from the forest to the consumer, including the various stages of processing, manufacturing, and distribution. Chain of custody certification involves verifying the documentation and systems used in processing products from certified forests. Certified operations in the wood processing chain can label their resulting products with the FSC logo.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) trademark indicates that the wood used in the production of a product comes from forests that are well and responsibly managed according to strict environmental, social, and economic standards. For the consumer, the FSC label represents a guarantee that by purchasing such a product, they are not contributing to the degradation and destruction of forest ecosystems and are not supporting illegal logging in forests.

Systém náležitej starostlivosti (DDS)
(Due Diligence System – DDS) (ďalej len „systém“) je súbor opatrení a postupov na účinné minimalizovanie rizika, že drevo alebo výrobky z dreva prichádzajúce na trh bude pochádzať z nezákonnej ťažby. Systém je zjednodušene povedané, materiál v listinnej alebo elektronickej forme, ktorý popisuje celý proces týkajúci sa ťažby dreva a uvedenia dreva na trh ktorý HS vykonáva a zaoberá sa možnosťou rizika uvedenia nelegálne vyťaženého dreva na trh. Skladá sa z troch častí a to: 1. Opatrenia a postupy zabezpečujúce prístup k informáciám o dodávke dreva. 2. Postupy hodnotenia rizika. 3. Postupy na zmierňovanie rizika.
Systém náležitej starostlivosti je potrebné aktualizovať aspoň raz ročne alebo pri každej zásadnej zmene týkajúcej sa výmery obhospodarovaného lesa alebo iných informácií uvedených v DDS.

Za lesy s veľkým spoločenským významom (High Conservation Value Forests - HCVF) považujeme lesy, ktoré majú mimoriadnu biologickú, environmentálnu, spoločenskú alebo kultúrnu hodnotu. Manažment v týchto lokalitách je zameraný prioritne na udržanie týchto hodnôt. V lesoch spravovaných spoločnosťou Real Forest s.r.o. sú ako lesy s veľkým spoločenským významom vyčlenené nasledovné lokality:

Referenčné plochy sú lokality v spravovanom území ktoré sa vyznačujú vyhovujúcim stavom biotopu, alebo stavom blízkym priaznivému pričom ich význam spočíva v referencii k manažovaným lesom. V týchto lokalitách je aplikovaný bezzásahový režim, alebo citlivý manažment zameraný na elimináciu neprirodzených vplyvom (napr. vysoké stavy zveri, výskyt nepôvodných druhov,...).
