Implementation
The implementation of close to nature-based forestry brings the need for the application of various innovative solutions. Given the presence of complex forest structures, continuous cover forest management creates a challenging environment for the use of standard methods for describing and monitoring the state of the forest. One possible approach is the combination of precision forestry, GIS support, and the principles of permanent representative assessment of forest conditions (or operational inventory).
Development
In 2023, we at Real Forest began developing our own solution aimed at efficient semi-automatic collection and evaluation of a wide range of forest data. For this purpose, an open-source GIS platform will be tested in a model area covering more than 100 hectares, which allows for the synchronization of fieldwork and subsequent data processing.
Monitoring
Po testovacej fáze bude výsledný produkt využívaný na interné účely na nezávislé monitorovanie stavu lesa, paralelne s programom starostlivosti o lesy, a zároveň na vedenie veľmi presných, geograficky objektovo orientovaných záznamov lesníckych aktivít. Keďže na vývoj používame open-source platformy, plánujeme výsledky tejto aktivity, ako aj stručné metodické aspekty, publikovať vo forme prípadovej štúdie v blízkej budúcnosti.
